Speeding up songs and Reverb...

Hey gang. My first post here but long time Philly Radio listener. I was looking into my archives in my basement and found some old WOGL from 2001-2003 and I than remembered how they used reverb and also sped up songs. I always thought that it made the station sound livelier and high energy, but was wondering if that would work in todays "Classic Hits"/Oldies format of today, such as our current 98.1 WOGL.

There have always been different schools of thought on this question: the idea of speeding up the records was, I believe, mainly an east-of-the-Mississippi thing; West coast programmers (as I understand and I could be totally off-base) always perceived it as a negative, i.e. too gimmicky... ;D
