Am I the only one who notices that WLS starts Rush at about 8 past the hour & speeds the show up to a degree that would put all but the most extreme top 40 stations of the 60's/70's to shame? The intro song borders on sounding ridiculous...

Extra commercials ring the register.

Yep...at WLS rates, that device probably pays for itself on a daily basis.

:08 past? That's ridiculous.

WTAM/Cleveland is guilty of time compression on Rush's show, and has been for nearly a decade, but they have it at :07 and :34 past (the feed should be at :06 and :33).

I presume WLS is doing the same thing with Hannity, Levin, C2C and the Truckers? Oh my.

An extra 4 minutes an hour? I assume they speed up both segments. That puts 18 minutes local and (nominally) 5 minutes network ...

Suppose there's a malfunction with WLS' speeding software - we might actually get to hear Rush say "Two If By Tea totally tastes terrific" ten times fast! ::)

I would suspect sister station WABC in New York also does this, but his show sounds normal to me on the radio. Although they do tend to cram in some :10 reads over the start of Rush's theme song at the top of every hour. Oh, and they still run a Johnny Donovan-voiced liner that Rush is "broadcasting from Penn Plaza, overlooking Madison Square Garden" when his show has actually been emanating from the "Southern Command Station" in South Florida for quite some time.
