Spencer Hughes on Fox Talk, and some WRKO...

Ohio Media Watch reports the following...note that he'll still be on WRKO
weekends but his 2-5 pm hours on the "new" Fox Talk Radio network (on XM)
might mean less of a chance he'll wind up doing the occasional fill in for
Howie...though maybe he could do DePetro fill ins if needed:

"AllAccess reports that ...Spencer Hughes* is joining the weekday lineup at XM Radio's new "FOX News Talk" talk radio channel. He'll host the 2-5 PM slot after the Westwood One show from FNC's Bill O'Reilly airs on the satellite provider. Spencer will also hang onto his Sunday afternoon slot on heritage Boston talker WRKO/680."

*--or as I call him, "the (Jon)Spencer Hughes Explosion"--name spoof of
a band called the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion)

Oh, and by the way today's the day "Pulitzer-Prize-winning" Jimmy Severino
debuts on WTKK and elsewhere (WTKK website has been updated). Folks on
the Boston board of FreeRepublic seem to be taking the 'fake Pulitzer'
charge in stride, though. JaySeverin.Com still has a "coming soon"
designation. My hunch is it'll be up right around the time the
Houston Texans get to the Super Bowl.

screw up in santa rosa, get an xm gig!!

Re: Spencer Hughes on Fox Talk

He was talking about this on his show the other day. there was a lot of secrecy, and "I wish I could tell you but it's not confirmed yet"

I guess he can put in his notice at the "retail" job he keeps complaining about

Good for Spencer

Ohio Media Watch central checking in...

OK, those folks in Boston apparently obsessed with my good friend Spencer Hughes despite his occupation of just three hours of the Sunday afternoon schedule on WRKO... please don't move to the XM board here and start complaining about him there, too. :D

As far as the above line goes, well, he did quite well at that Santa Rosa station, actually. (It's a suburban market just north of San Francisco. Very well off.) The station - KSRO/1350 - basically moved in that proverbial other direction. The local hosts that remain are not conservative political talkers...KSRO is a unique station. It even runs syndicated AAR liberal talker Thom Hartmann. The local hosts left seem to be of the "local issues and answers and guests" variety.

I happen to be a Spencer Hughes fan and wish he was on WRKO regularly. The only reasons I listen to RKO at all anymore are his Sunday show and Howie Carr. After Boston This Morning's debut I gave up listening in the AM and quit
evenings with the advent of "Boston Tonight" or whatever it's called.
