Spicer Retiring

Heard the 'ROR afternoon DJ mention that Bob Spicer was retiring and today was his last day.

I always found him a good guy who knew what he was about.

I wonder if he still has the Morgan.

Do you realize that 90% of the people on this board have no idea who or what you are talking about? Morgan??

What is retiring from? I remember when he was the GM of 105.7, 25 years ago. last I heard, he was in West Palm beech.

Please fill us in.

I think that Bob Speicer was once Wolfman Jack's producer. I am certain that Bob is a great guy and a great technician and producer. My best memories were when Bob, Rod Fritz and I all worked for Greater Media when the studios were on Stuart Street. More often than not, we would end up drinking martinis at Grill 23 at the end of our shift. We were very good at that then. I hope that remains the same for Bob. I know it has for Rod and me.

I'm pretty sure Bob Spicer started at Greater Media in 1985, after being hired away from WROR (now WBMX). I'm sure his career goes much further back, but he probably hasn't written a resume in 30 years so he himself may not remember!

Bob's a production ace who was the 'go to' person in this market for commercial jingles. Sorry to see him step off the bus, but I hope he enjoys a long, happy, healthy retirement. He's earned it !

On a board where folks endlessly discuss the size of Larry's Johnson, and sit in thrall of the musings of career weekend talent, I thought that someone who actually contributed to the 'sound' of Boston radio for decades wouldn't be completely unknown and was probably worthy of a mention.

Morgan??

An enthusiast's sports car.

Greater Media.

Wrong guy.
