Spinmaster Roy at it again. This time it's aimed at KFI....

In today's edition of LARadio, Roy explains that KFWB now has a larger 25-54 than KFI. He says the ratings for Rush and Dr. Laura have tumbled dramatically. He suspects CC will both move to KLAC very shortly and more NEWS at KFI is the placeholder.

First: Why in the world would KFI want to mess with the success of their lineup? They are still making good money. I personally see no reason to change the lineup. However, I think this is the best time to put KFI on FM. This way there would be no direct competition (within the AM band) between KFI and KFWB. Moving or simulcasting KFI means hitting lower demos, which means more prime spots. That equals more money$$$.

KFI on the FM dial to replace Hot 92? Sounds possible. What about KLAC and KTLK? What will happen to them with their low low #'s?

Jeeze. First Roy gets it all wrong about Spanish language stations losing share. Now he is all wrong about KFWB.

KFI 25-54 has a 2.9 share, while KFWB has a 1.2. No contest, Roy.

Even if Roy is focusing on cume, in 25-54 KFI wins by about 80,000.

Maybe Roy has ArbyTron mixed up with Absorbatron.*

Or else he's using the C.E. Hooper numbers instead.
(How did KRKD do?) ;D

Roy sure has his finger on the pulse (pun intended)
of El Lay radio!

*: Absorbatron was the glowing substance inside of
walnuts that made you lose your sense of humor
...and your thumbs.

He is combining KNX and KFWB's unduplicated cume.

I found this on the web by searching on Google for CBS Radio Cluster: http://cbslacluster.com

It has all of their sales pieces about how they are better than CC. Seems like a bitter party of one!!!

I like how page 27 of the "CBS LA Cluster Presentation" is a disclaimer
stating it is proprietary to CBS El Lay yada yada yada...of course by now
we've downloaded all the pages and know all of Wonder Roy's secrets! ;D

Shouldn't he have password-protected the site (http://cbslacluster.com/)
rather than left it open for anyone to look at? It seems to be various parts
of sales presentations that normally would be shown only to agencies and/or
prospective clients. Or does he want us radio geeks--and Cheap Channel,
Faridadel, et al--to see it on purpose?

Seen presentation page 5 yet? I'm sure someone will whine about it being
un-p.c., but it is funny, and remember...never cut funny (King Kaiser, 1954).

Wow, that's wild. It's like a political event, all in how you spin it!
Meanwhile, I think it'd be great if I could get KFI on FM.

I checked the Hooper eBook ("e" for "estimates") and KRKD was tied with KGIL and way under KPOL and KFAC. It did, however, beat KPOP.

Dude's got Palin-itis. Set spin cycle on high. It's amusing that a guy would think he could put this over on people in a market like LA... maybe in Muncie, Indiana... but not LA. It just doesn't pass the laugh test.

LOL Old Gringo...but now some of our younger posters* are saying
"I can't find any of these stations in the latest summer trend!" ;)

BTW--how did Bob Crane do in AM drive on KNX? He goes bananas
with wild tracks and SFX during his show. My fave is the one of a
guy with a German accent yelling "Hogannnnnn!" ;D

*: Meaning younger posters in general (not anyone in particular,
as I'm sure "KLL" and a few others "get" the references).

I'm on the younger side and I got all of those references ;D

Bob Crane? No no no. It's all about Hunter Hancock on KPOP ;)

That http://cbslacluster.com is hilarious! Check out KNX & KFWB Research Insights. First, KFI does not claim to be NEWS. They still ID themselves as "More stimulating TALK radio." Second, KFI has news at the top AND bottom of each hour.

This is nuts....

EDIT: KFI on 92.3 FM may be a good idea. Anyone aware of any signal problems for the local area?

And when it breaks!

Disclaimer: I may hate Cheap Channel (and now CBS, too) as much as
the next poster, but I wanted to add it as it completes the liner. ;D

Is there anything else they could use to replace their AM that would make as much money?

UhM..EARTH TO ROY!!!?? HELLO??? MC FLY???

Roy boy, no offense, but how does (your) canning half the newsroom at KNX and KFWB make them better, stronger stations that are more able to compete with KFI???

Those drugs you're taking are making you hallucinate, Roy!

Better watch out though-I hear that CBS does random drug testing....

Well it DOES make them stop bleeding cash.

Well, I don't quite see how two stations that billed over $55 million together last year could have fallen in today's economy to the point of not being profitable.
