Split personality: Web vs. Local market

ZmaxRadio.com is an internet-only station in the Clermont area. It was started a few years ago with the intent of filling a local market need and, for a while, the community supported it. By supporting the South Lake Chamber of Commerce and local events, it was hoped that South Lake would embrace it as its "Voice to the World" or something like that. As I'm sure most local broadcasters have found, the tendency is the old adage "If you're so good, what are you doing here."

With a stable of almost a dozen on-air professional voices and a very active morning show (The Jay & Zee Show from 9-11 am weekdays) they had hoped that the community would take them to heart. One of the questions was, and remains, does the listener perceive ZmaxRadio.com as a live experience or as "canned" or syndicated?

Anyone want to give it a listen and tell us what you think? We're happy to hear how folks inside the industry perceive us.

Thanks

BTW: I'll be there midnight to 6am. Just sayin'

Your real question may be does the public know we are here? I have run into that with WLBE and it has been in the same visible location for over 60 years, with lighted towers and a road named after the station, and some people are still unaware we are here. Your internet station has none of those things and has only been around for a few years, so there may be an issue with public awareness.

All of the great programming and professional talent doesn't make much difference if no one knows to listen. How many listening hours are you getting a month? How many of those are local - say within 30 miles of Clermont? Your answer may lie right there - or not.
