Spokane Public Schools, KSPS consider cutting ties

From the article:

Nationwide, there are 365 public television stations, and KSPS is one of only six still owned by a government entity. Five of those are school districts, according to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Does anyone know what the other five stations are?

Two I know for sure...

KLCS Los Angeles (Los Angeles Unified School District)
KLVX Las Vegas (Clark County School District)

I remember at one point some PBS affiliates aired telecorses but they were PBS stations that were owned by Colleges like KCSM in San Mateo owned by The College of San Mateo but they lost their PBS affiliation due to funding and also KQED inc (Owners of KQED9, KQEH54 and KQED-FM) got more donors in the San Francisco area. I did remember KOCE was the telecourse PBS Station for Los Angeles and KCET was the flagship PBS station for LA but KCET lost their PBS affiliation in 2010 due to funding issues. Now its KLCS as the telecourse for LA and KOCE as the Flagship PBS station for LA.

The lone government station is in American Samoa, KVZK-2 channel 2 (that's a correct and valid callsign). They also have KVZK-4 and KVZK-5, which relay ABC and CBS and offer AFN programming. A relatively recent private station provides NBC (it was a TBN repeater). No Fox affiliate, though one was even planned for the market.

Do state networks count? I believe APT (Alabama) and GPTV (Georgia) are still owned by their state's ETV or public TV commissions.

WTVI in Charlotte was owned by the City of Charlotte, but was since sold off to Central Piedmont Community College as of June 30.

That being said, I believe there are many PBS stations that are still owned by public colleges, which are owned by state and local governments.

The five school district-owned PBS stations are:

  • KLCS (ch. 58) Los Angeles (L.A. Unified School District);
  • KLVX (ch. 10) Las Vegas (Clark County School District)
  • WLRN-TV (ch. 17) Miami (School Board of Miami-Dade County);
  • WPBA (ch. 30) Atlanta (Atlanta Board of Education);
  • KSPS-TV (ch. 7) Spokane (Spokane Public Schools).

Thanks!

I wonder if KSPS would change their call letters if they broke away from Spokane Public Schools. If so, they'd be the first major station in Spokane to change call letters (KQUP out of Pullman, the short-lived UPN station formerly owned by Equity, was originally KGBC).
