Not sure where you heard about a new Top-40/CHR station for Spokane....no animal like that is living and breathing in the Inland Northwest. KAZZ/107.1 is back on the using just their Deer Park transmitter and is calling themselves
"K-HITS"--Superhits of the 70's & 80's. Musically, it's fairly listenable, but the signal doesn't even allow it to stop at 107.1 when I hit scan on my car radio, and I live near the North Division "Y,"and I have a great JBL radio in my 2006 Toyota Solara. Gotta be frustrating for whoever plans on buying the station and facilities. The old KQQB/104.5 is still off the air, and I don't hear a thing about them returning anytime soon.
The closest things we have to Top-40 CHR's are 929/KZZU and 103.1/KCDA and they are both HOT A/C's. ZZU utilizes personality and KCDA is jockless, but does back announce each and every song they do play. A very nice feature, as does 96.1/KIXZ one of the 4 country stations in Spokane.
It will be interesting a few years down the road when we get PPM here vs. the diary system. Certantly a big shuffle of the ratings for Seattle.
