SPONSORED CALL LETTERS????

Posts: 60 sponsored call letters?????« on: April 13, 2006, 01:22:25 pm » Reply with quoteQuoteHere's a thought I had. Sponsored call letters. Okay, we have theHilbert Circle Theater. The Pepsi Coliseum. The RCA Dome, etc, etc.Why not the Pepsi Public Radio Station, WFYI. Something like that. Hey,the station could charge a million a year...forget funddrives...and announcethe sponsored ID whenever and as often as they want. Would the FCC care?It is neither a call to action nor any kind of qualifier so it would notviolate those parameters. Just a thought. I could be reeeeeeeeeal wrongon this. Any comments, board? BTW....I have used Indianapolis locales andradio station simply as examples.

FCC might not care. Some listeners - much as they hate pledge drives - might be left with a bad taste in their mouth. What are you thinking of?This is WPNG, Cincinnati - the clean sound of Proctor and Gamble Public Radio. This is KBNG, Seattle - Boeing Public Radio, soaring to new heights with news and information. This is WMCD, Chicago - McDonald's Public Radio because you deserve a break today.
