I always thought Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop by Little Anthony and the Imperials sounded spooky at the end, with the backround singers going ooh oooohhhh wwoooooooohhhhh...

I also forgot, The Witch by the Sonics (Seattle group around the mid 1960's) also, The Season of The Witch by Donovan around 1969. They did not make it on the Billboard charts, but they had airplay in California.

About 10-12 years ago, I had the pleasure of having a beer with the late Dennis Yost at the place where he was performing in Vegas. Nice Guy. It was October, and I was telling him about my mix. He laughed and told me "Spooky" was in everyone's Haloween mix...and if not, something was very wrong. We spent the next few minutes discussing what should be mandatory in all Haloween mixes. He basically taking a "let me guess" approach.

Monster Holiday - Buck Owens and the Buckaroos

"Don't Fear The Reaper" - Blue Oyster Cult
"Legend of Wooley Swamp" - Charlie Daniels Band
