Here is what I have picked up sporaticially on the SW Band in recent Weeks and past few months..

6220-Mystery Radio..... Euro POP havent heard this in awhile,, Location unknown

6900- Radio Jamba international.. phone calls about guys complaining about rap music....Location unknown

6925- Liquid Radio- Dance Music and Heavy metal... Location Known,,, but im not telling....hehe

6955- WMPR Dance Music with a station ID as WMPR and a Whistling affect between songs... Very Strong Signal in my area... pegs the dial,,, havent heard this one in many months..... Location Unknown...

6925- outhouse Radio---Classic Hard Rock usually..Location unknown and this one is the most frequently heard in my area...

6875,, but comes in better on 6876,, playing mostly classic rock IDs heard, thank you for tuning into the Crystal Ship,,, we broadcast from North America with approximately 100 watts... Then Open Carrier,, and pulled the plug...

6933-Numbers station in spanish,, presumably cuba,, Very strong signal but with a hum in the background.

Anyway,, since March,, these are the stations I have heard on SW that I cant Identify,, has any SW Dxers heard these stations? My Location is Central Indiana,, Receiver... hand Held grundig g8 traveller 2 digital..

Other unusual morse code stations heard, but I dont remember the frequencie's. Also I have a strong signal day and night on 5000 and 1000 with a Ticking clock,, assuming this is the famous WWV... Also another Canadian Ticking clock station on I think 3333.....or 3330.. Cant remember?

Thanks for the listing. .I'll give a listen (As long as it doesn't require me to stay up late). Shortwave pirates have been around since broadcasters took the airwaves, and the "hobby's" popularity seems to come and go.

I suspect the internet has helped a lot of non technical types to obtain ready to use transmitters and the other stuff required to do the deed.

Yes, the 5,000khz & 10,000khz are WWV & the other freqs are Canada.

Very interesting listings, I'll look for them too. With regard to Morse code stations, most are probably ham radio "CW" broadcasters who do it as a hobby.

WWV (universal time broadcast) is at 2500, 5000, 10000, 15000 and 20000 kHz and broadcasts from Ft. Collins, CO - a male voice announces each minute. If you ever hear the clock tones sounding in harmonics and a female voice near the top of each minute, you're also hearing WWVH from Hawaii underneath. That's common in many areas.

The Canadian time station - CHU - broadcasts from near Ottawa, Ontario and can be heard on 3330, 7850 and 14670 kHz. Just for the record.

These guys don't operate on any set schedule for obvious reasons. You'll need some patience to catch one and a decent antenna, with your odds elevated during holiday weekends. Many operate around 6.925 in upper sideband mode. Some even send out SSTV pictures during their broadcasts that can be decoded with simple computer software. Here are some pirate SSTV images that I recently captured - kind of like an instant e-QSL sent out over the airwaves:

Wolverine Radio #1
Wolverine Radio #2
Radio GAGA

If you still can't hear one, there's a live audio stream known as The Gulch that has an Icom PCR-1000 tuned into the main pirate frequency:

Thanks im well aware of the gulch, thats Ragners stream.. and he chases pirates up and down the band.. Weekends are the best to here them near sunrise, and sunset and holidays when the ops are off work.... but they can sporatically pop up at any type of the day and any day. Some only operate a few times a year. I know their are alot of stations out their, but these are the only ones I have heard on my grundig g8 in my area.. WMPR being the easiest and most booming signal, but yet operates not very often at all. I really like WMPR, its my favorite one.

Ive also pciked up a station called Laser hot hits from either UK or Ireland on several frequencies,, and BTW they stream on the net as well..nice guys at this station.. I am assuming most of these are hams, since they would need to aquire the equipment with a license for the pirate band.. not sure if these transmissions are actually illegal since they arent being used.
