Dallas Sports Anchor Out After 12 Years

Anyone know what they're talking about?

For what it is worth, certain people at FOX never heard this rumor, he is still on their "pseudo blog friendly" Web site and no one is yapping about it on the Ticket.

Stay tuned for this one, Sports Fans. Man what a loss that would be.

Another example of Newsblues blowing things out of proportion

He stunk I thought.

I like Doocy and Max Morgan a LOT better than Yates.

I'd like to see Joe Trahan leave form Channel 8. Cannot stand that guy for some reason.

seems a little cocky doesn't he? It also seems he doesn't have a relationship with the weekend anchors... seems to brush them off when they try to make small talk.

KLTV Channel 7 Tyler has for the most part eliminated the 6PM sports cast. The sports director or his backup does a sports show at 10 but nothing at 6. Is this drop out unique to the new owners or is it a trend in more places than just Tyler.

The time is being filled with nothing stories, mostly material that just barely make the ABC closed circuit feed. It seems, also, that a minute of the former sports slot has been given over to additional commerckal time prior to the 6:30 show. Come to think of it, that trade off may be behind the dumping of sports in the first place.

In a market like Tyler, it's hard to come up with sports stories at 6pm. I'm sure the early weekend shows probably still have it. But, normally in the past, it was cheesy packages with some of the local high schools and colleges. Not only, does this help the Sports guy, because he can stay out and get more stuff for the 10pm, but it helps the station bring in more revenue. I guess that means they are starting "Wheel" at 6:28pm now, because when I was there, it would start at 6:29pm (I'm surprised I still remember that?!). And, if my memory is still serving me right, the spots in "Wheel" did cost slightly more than the 6pm spots.

I'm sure if there is breaking sports news, or when Cowboys camp :p cranks up, KLTV will do adequate coverage at 6pm. I'm sure Kevin was pissed about it at first, but he probably realizes that this is better for him. I work for a station here in Houston, where our Sports Anchor breaks a lot of stories. One of the reasons he does, is because he doesn't have to do a 5 & 6, like the other sports anchors. He can stay out working until the 9pm show starts, and that definitely works to his benefit.

I doubt it is a corporate deal, but a sure way to find out, is if you have access to KSLA Channel 12 in Shreveport. See if they are still doing sports at 6pm, that should answer your question.

I don't receive Channel 12 out of Shreveport, but there is a logic to what you posted. True, East Texas isn't a hot sports-generating market and the 6 andf 10 ports was pretty much repetetive, and boringly so at that. So deleting the sports at six probably had as much to do with revenue and repetitioln as anything.

I don't know if it is cockiness or what, he just irks me, big time..............He was a big shot in New Orleans so maybe he still thinks he should be here in Big D, instead of the #2 guy, next to Dale.
