Sports Broadcasts in Central Ark.

I noticed that the Arkansas Travelers sports broadcasts have been relagated to the rather weak AM 1380 signal in L.R., along with 92.7 FM in Conway, which just barely reaches L.R. You would think that a minor league team like the Travelers would be on a stronger station. AM 1380, with its' highly directional signal goes south-southwest of the transmitter in the northern part of Sherwood. It does not go to the west, towards Conway. I understand that 92.7 FM will be upgrading soon, but still the Travs don't have the coverage they once had on KARN-920 in years past. Couldn't KARN-AM/FM split up and carry its' regular fare on 102.9 and have the Travs on 920, or maybe put the games on KABF-88.3 FM, which would give them good coverage in Central Ark. Just an observation.

All this has been tried in the past, but when it comes down to the bottom line, the bigger stations aren't willing to do it. You've got the Travs who are playing 140 games a summer many of which start at 7:00 in the evening... The KARNs and KABZs are not going to be willing to preempt Sportsrap and Drive Time and the spotloads associated with those shows to do that every single night of the summer. The last time I knew anything about it, KARN had one control room and one board that controls the AM and FM. The simulcast hasn't been split since they were in the old building.

The word I get is that KABF is just not reliable when it comes to sports....

KARN AM is going to carry the Hornets this year, so I suppose someone is going to figure out a way to split them.

Yeah I knew that the powers that be were trying to get that worked.... They were needing to get a second STL because right now they have to relay over to the old tower at the Pine/Cedar exit (old studios) and then it is split... That was the way I understood it, so I may be completely wrong.

I was trying to work a deal to carry a certain private school whose initials are sometimes used when referring to a public address system.. I wanted to put them on KPZK/KVLO however they were a little nervous about being on a black gospel station so that went by the wayside. I think I've got another one in the works though...

With KDRE's flip to alternative, UALR will be looking for a new home as well...

Chuckle-chuckle,snort-snort, spewing tea from my nose right now from laughing so hard at PA games being carried on a black gospel station. I can just see the eyebrows raising in west Little Rock over that idea. After all...what would people think! LOL!

Why don't you get your home boys together and let me sell you a station to run on your own? You know that's what you want Mogul.

Does anybody know where UALR basketball games are going to end up? I heard that 103.7 wants them back, but the current AD at UALR will not allow his teams to be tape delayed like they were a few years ago when that station carried them aand the Hogs.
