Here in the Tampa Bay area, our local "i" station WXPX carries Orlando Magic basketball on Saturday nights, meaning that i's schedule is practically pre-empted. But it's how they schedule that doesn't make sense -- if a game starts at 7PM, if a movie is on "i" that night, it's joined in progress after the game. But if a game begins at 7:30, it makes no rhyme or reason -- this week (12/23), the Gaithers's show will be cut off at 7:30 for the Magic, with the game followed by the last 30 minutes (or less) of of Hope and Crosby's "Going Our Way".
When the Magic was on WMOR (our local indy), they would always schedule half-hour shows around the game. But the way WXPX is doing it:
1. They wanted to make sure the Time-Life infomercial is on at 11 sharp, meaning the film can't be seen in its entirety
2. They are either too poor or too lazy to put alternate programming on around the game, instead of cutting off a gospel program and joining a film close to where it ends
Anyone else notice this haphazard scheduling on their "i" stations?
