Sports in Shelby

So, what's the story on WADA? I was going through Shelby this past weekend and flipped on the radio to sample the local fare and discovered that WADA is now FoxSports 1390. They also ran a promo stating that long-time Shelby announcing legend Andy Foster was co-hosting mornings. Andy was at WOHS forever. Has WADA moved in-house with Calvin's stations, or has Andy jumped ship to a new owner? Also, why sports? It's an interesting choice given that WOHS has run college sports and the Atlanta Braves for years, and I don't think WADA has moved any of those franchises over to it.

WADA was recently purchased by HRN Broadcasting, the company which also owns WLON in Lincolnton and WCSL in Cherryville, as well as WZGM in Asheville. In just a couple days, an announcement will be made which will make the Andy Foster move crystal-clear. I just can't tell you yet. :)

HRN was in the process of purchasing WOHS and WGNC last I heard. I believe they have been running under an LMA since the beginning of the year on one or both stations.

Rumor has it Calvin will stay on and do some sales and that will be it.
 
Randy Foster--OUT

The flip-flopping of new owners has WOHS legend Randy Foster OUT! He was there for over 30 years I believe, going back to when Shelby had its own FM, which evolved into Magic 96.
