''Sports Radio 790 & 1017"

Has anyone noticed that 790 has stopped using the "Card's Radio" slogan most of the time. They still use it some, but now it's mainly "Sports Radio 790 & 1017". Don't look like their website has changed, but the "Card's Radio'' logo looks smaller. Wonder what, if anything, is going on with their U of L connection?

When is 101-7 going to be sold, last I saw, it was in the Aloha Trst like Rewind 105-5 in Lexington. Why would Clear Channel change a station name (Majic to Rewind) if they're going to sell it, unless they intend to keep them?

The "Cards Radio" monkier was used to appease Tom Jurich at U of L when WHAS decided not to carry the team located in their city of license. As I understand it, that was a deal with UK to keep their broadcasts. From a public service standpoint, it makes not sense with Lexington being over an hour away....UK should be on the lesser signal with U of L being on the strong local signal. But when it comes to money, CC only does what makes sense to them. and they are getting more money from a school 65 miles away to keep them on the 50kW signal.

anyone know if there will be an itouch/phone app that will carry all of the uofl radio broadcasts? that way i won't have to turn on my radio at all to any cc station.

dropping the cards radio moniker is in bad taste after this long, but the station was never really uofl exclusive. they have had on there a lot of uk talk. if they weren't going to cut out the uk stuff then they had to change their name.

I've also heard WKRD say that they are "Louisville's only sports station". What about "ESPN 1450-The Ticket" ? Maybe they don't count since they have a crappy signal and are in Jeffersonville. But ''The Ticket does have The Big EZ :)

If such an app is available, where do you think the broadcast will originate from?

You can download just the iPhone app you're looking for at:

http://www.uoflsports.com/wireless/

That will allow you to pay $4.99/month to stream the exact same broadcast you're trying to avoid on the radio.

Or, you can subscribe to Sirius Satellite Radio for $12.95 a month, and also get the same broadcast that's carried over the air:

Well heck, that's a no-brainer. Go for the $4.99 per month duplication of the Clear Channel free radio broadcast and save $7.96 per month over Sirius. :D

i actually have a subscription to sirius. a lifetime one. the problem is the radio that has the lifetime sub is a stiletto 100. it gets no reception using normal headphones, and the ones it came with are like sticking icepicks in your ears. i would rather have something that as long as i have some sort of wifi or cellular signal i can listen to games.

i saw that some schools had a game radio app, i didn't know uofl was one of them. i'll be getting that for next season most definitely.
