The signal of 106.9 FM (W295AZ) is currently extremely weak on the Westside, which is where I reside. However, I know that an upgrade is on the way for 106.9 FM in which the signal of the FM translator will be increased from 10 watts @ 813 ft HAAT to 99 watts at the same HAAT. It will be interesting to see if this power increase to 99 watts really has any decent coverage. Most of the better coverage class D translators are 250 watts. I've also noticed that the translator on 102.1 seems to be re-broadcasting the HD-2 signal of 107.3 (now WWJK-FM). Seems to be an arrangement between Reach Communications and Clear Channel.
Well, that's an interesting question, because, over the past few days, it keeps changing. Over the past year and a half, the old WJGH-FM HD-2 was a "Planet Radio" presentation (minus any on air personalities), so those with HD tuners still had access to that format on 107-3 HD-2. Lately, the HD-2 signal has been on and off, and whatever they DO feed on the now WWJK-FM HD-2, DOES appear on the 102.1 translator analog signal. At this point, it looks like the engineers are at work, and when this all shakes out, we'll have an answer!
