SPORTS RADIO CHANGES IN TRIANGLE STARTS MONDAY

surfdude said:
Wow! Lots of activity on these stations. Do you think people will start listening?
(See Arbitron) :(

JMHO, but if I had my way, I would take all the sports statios off the air except one and let them bid for the frequency..That includes TV also..While we are at it, take all the Shopping nets and useless music stations off the cable! BIGAPE

Bye bye Imus... again...

At least 620 is keeping the Packman, even though they will join him in progress from 4-7 PM.

I wonder what 850 will flip to once the transition period is over (according to the story, they will simulcast 99.9 for a transition period before the format flip on 850 takes effect)?

I also see that Taylor Zarzour is returning to the Raleigh sports airwaves (remember the ill-fated Triangle Sports Talk 1490/1090?) eventually.
Supposedly, the existing sports affiliations (i.e. Hurricanes, Notre Dame football, and Westwood One on 99.9; Bobcats, Duke, and App State on 620, and N.C. State on 101.5) will remain in place. The Durham Bulls, carried on 99.9 for the last couple seasons, will supposedly move back to 620. I wonder if either 99.9 or 620 will pick up the Atlanta Braves (last carried on the above-mentioned Triangle Sports Talk 1490/1090) and the Indy 500/NASCAR Brickyard races (up until now carried on 850)?

Radio changes in the triangle are confusing the listeners, it won't take long for Don Imus to find a new home here, especially if one of the "Clear Channel" stations in the Raleigh/Durham market goes to a "News/Talk" format on FM, where Rush Limbaugh may wind up come
January 1st.

Introducing the new ESPN Triangle...

... where you will be directed from the old 620 The Bull and 850 The Buzz sites.
One question: Will 620 The Buzz stream again? There are links to a streaming player at both wralsportsfan.com and espntriangle.com, but neither of them work. 99.9's streaming player is still intact, and also has links from both wralsportsfan and espntriangle.

On the air, 850 AM, still WRBZ for now, is simulcasting 99.9 with the station-ID bumpers saying "850 AM."
