Sports Radio in The New River Valley

I was just reading a story on a website about sports radio in the NRV. Stating that there are 3 sports stations and that is too many for the area. Do you think that is too many and which one do you think is in the best?

While we're at it, which news station is the best, Supertalk, 710 AM or 810AM?

Here is the quote which is about 1/2 way down the page.

"We Need Another Sports Radio Station.

Not. We now have 3. The recent change of 101.7FM to all sports and the addition of 94.1FM to the 1430AM ESPN Radio affiliate now gives us three sports stations. I don't think New York has 3 sports stations. Simple fact is this: 101.7FM made the move to FM first, other than Mike and Mike they have the better programming such as Rick Watson, and their signal doesn't suck. It's like making a golf bet where you are beat before you get to the 1st tee . . . the match is done. Adding the FM (a low power translator) to the local ESPN affiliate is not going to help. Stick a fork in them."

Sounds like overkill, here in Lynchburg,we have an AM Espn affiliate 1320,but we also have a translator 93.3 fm ,in the Timberlake area, that barely gets out of it's own way, that one is a rebroadcast of 106.3 fm

in Gretna,it is a mess.I wish they would add some power to 93.3 so it will come in better in my frontyard, works pretty good in my backyard, lol!!!

When I am mowing,I listen to 1320 in the frontyard and 93.3 in the backyard, plus 1320 powers down at dark.

Wbrg 1050 and it's 104.5 fm rebroadcast, do some sports also,as well as Wlni 105.9 on weekend afternoons, they are both talk radio the rest of the time.

Stations can't just ADD more power as they want...and often times, they're as powerful as they can get

I know they can't just add power,I was just saying a few more watts would cover my whole yard,it is only puuting out 40 watts an I live 2 miles away.
