Sports talk radio news

Several rumors that have been making the rounds turn out to be on the mark. The Chronicle's David Barron reports that Calvin Murphy is returning to the radio. He'll be hosting an an evening show on 97.5 KFNC beginning next month: www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/barron/4930711.html

There's also word that KCOH's Ralph Cooper is thinking about an offer from KBME. www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4930720.html

Finally, when KILE makes their debut later this summer, expect to hear imaging from Spencer Tillman. And maybe some other things, too.

Ralph Cooper staying at KCOH, but Craig Roberts (La, La, La, La, La :D) is headed to KBME. Details below...

Thats good news!

Good for both of them. Craig will be a good fit at KBME. On the other hand, Ralph would have brought a lot to the table, but I think he made the right decision. The man is a Houston sports radio icon, working for a locally owned and operated station that serves the community well. Ralph's statement that he could do better financially by staying where he is tells you a lot about Clear Channel's real bottom line.

Great news for both guys. I'm guessing Cooper figured out what he would be losing by leaving locally owned KCOH (KiloCyclesOverHouston), and moving to corporately owned evil empire deathstar CC. Good for him.

And I'm really happy to know Craig Roberts will join KBME. I've really missed seeing his witty and irreverent take on sports on KPRC TV. They haven't had a decent sportscaster on channel 2 since he left.
