Sportscaster Headsets

I have used them all. But last week I need to add 2 sportscaster headset/mics to the arsenal and ordered a pair of the Audio Technica units.

They are the best bang for the buck on the market. They seem sturdy and sound great. The Sennheisers and the Beyers are now assigned to the sideline and stats guys.

And you should be able to buy them for less than the usual $199 that is the asking price.

I'm very pleased.

I will second the recomendation for the AT headset mic. They sound way better than the Sennheisers they replaced.

Just bought a third pair of Beyer DT-190's, as our third station is now doing H.S. football.
Yes, they are expensive, but we make good money with sports and they are rugged.

Our original pair of Dt-190's is at least 15 years old--splurged and bought new ear cushions for one of them. Only thing I could find wrong with them when I checked them out pre-season. And our sports guys are far from careful with the equipment.

I've spec'ed DT190's for some of my stations for 10 years. Our sports guys are also gorillas, and they have held up well. They share a lot of mechanical parts with the DT108/109, and since they seem to be the most-used camera headsets on remote trucks, I figured that spoke well of durability. Replaced a couple of boom jumpers, main cables, and earpads over the years...that's about it.
