Sportsnet NY

I heard that SNY is co owned by Comcast does anyone think that it is all right to call the station, compared to Phillys Comcast CSN, the Comcast SportsNet of New York.

I doubt they are. I do know that here in Connecticut, nobody north of Wallingford carries it. Certainally not here in New Britain with Comcast. We carry YES and NESN (New England Sports Network) fulltime. MSG only gets through during a Knicks or Rangers game and will be piggybacked on another channel (such as C-SPAN 2). We haven't had MSG fulltime since (I thnk) 2000.

Comcast, Time Warner and the New York Mets are co-owners of SNY. That's why the channel does not ID as a Comcast channel.

I'm surprised Comcast of Hartford/New Britain never carried Sportsnet NY. You would think since they are part owner of the network that they would want as much exposure as possible. Granted, there are not many Mets fans in central CT, but there is still a great deal of interest in NY sports throughout that area.

In addition, I think Time Warner and Cablevision are the big cable ops in the city, whereas wherever there's Comcast "monopolies" in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, etc., thus then there is a corresponding "SportsNet".

Although the new network would be better served by the name "Comcast SportsTime NY".

Time Warner and Cablevision also have most of the cable coverage in the suburbs of Long Island, Westchester, CT, and parts of NJ. Only a few suburbs of north-central NJ are covered by Comcast. Comcast is prevlaent in the Philly 'burbs of southern NJ.

There's a reason it's called SNY

If that ever happened Time Warner would pull SNY in a heartbeat. Cablevision, Patriot Media and DirecTV would do the same.

Seems that Foe Paw likes to put his foot in his mouth. :p
