I think they've been losing ground to the new guys at KGOW. So, why work on improving the product you have? Just fire everybody and start from the ground up. Then fight an up-hill battle, for the next two years, just to get back to where you were. Makes sense to me.

The only place KGOW is gaining on anyone is Morn Drive with John & Lance. As far as sports/entertaining talk goes they have been the best (IMHO) since their days on KILT. Mark & Andre are so-so. Too much Texans talk outside of football season is most definitely causing too much button pushing away from them. After J&L, KGOW is painfully thin. Hoffman is not very good. He sounds too much like he's trying to be the poor man's Howard Stern, but with no real pronounced talent other than being a good interviewer. Plus he's up against Rome and Rush. He, nor anyone else at that time slot will NEVER generate an audience up against that competition. As for the guys following him, they are still amateurish, too many inside jokes that will alway drive new listeners away and bumper music that will also drive away listeners. From Hoffman on I find it too much "talk about nothing", but not in a Seinfeld funny way. I try to listen, but I can't stand the inside banter and I always find myself tuning off within a couple of minutes. Plus Sean & John are no match for Palillo in terms of pure sports knowledge and intelligent talk. Russ Small and that other guy are still much better because they have so many more resources to work with. Russ' intelligence carries the show. And finally at 6P KGOW still goes up against Charlie P on 790 and Adam Wexler on 610. Wexler on 610 is a promissing talent on KILT as is Adam Clanton in the morning. 610 just needs to cultivate that talent and maybe hunt for an entertainer like Lance on KGOW to keep their edge. KGOW still needs a sports franchise and a lot of help.
