Sportsradio ratings?

Anyone know who came in second in the sportsradio ratings in Tampa Bay.

1010 or 1040?

Did 620 as usual kill both combined?

Thanks.l

You could add up 1010 and 1040's audience, multiply it by four and still not be able to match WDAE's ratings. The other two really are non existent entities and for the most part you have to say, deservedly so.

Seriously can we admit for once that 620 wins on signal alone? Honestly coming from outside of Tampa I don't get the love for that station. I'm sorry but in my opinion there is nothing entertaining about the moron in the morning or the grump in the evenings. I'd rather hear Justin or Derek than either of those guys. The animal's every day shows are vastly overrated. As much as I hate Boston's teams I sure do miss WEEI.

I honestly believe if 620 had the same signal as 1010 that J.P. could do well against Deumig. I mean seriously how much horse racing, horse racing you're a dipsit can people take? Again maybe it's because I'm not over 50 and miserable but I'd so much rather hear Justin in drive time. I might actually tune in for that.

Thank you. I've been thinking the same thing for years. Steve D. is getting grumpier, the ENTIRE morning is a waste and Jim Rome is burned like a Top 40 cut spun 80 times a week. It's a shame these other guys can't compete. JP is good and the guys at 1040 have their moments as a great alternative. But my honest opinion is the casual sports radio listener doesn't know 1010 and 1040 exist. WDAE gets listeners simply by being consistent, the heritage sports station, and by having broadcast rights to ALL the local teams. When was the last time you saw publicly viewable advertising for 1010 "CBS Sports Radio" or "ESPN" 1040? If someone would spend just a few dollars on a couple billboards in key signal strength and "hot zip" areas it would probably help a lot.

I totally agree.

I disagree at least as far as 1010 goes. For most of the past 10 years, the exception being the Howard Stern "hot talk" fiasco and the brief foray after that into classic country, it's been a sports station -- The Team, The Asylum (or was it Ayslum as the website said) , ESPN 1010, The Beast, whatever. Talent has been a revolving door. Remember TJ Rives and Tom Korun? The only consistent element in all those formats has been the Sportchix.

1010 has always been run as an appendage to 99.5 and the FM's. It had numbers when it first launched and took most of the old 820 The Team's airstaff. In fact, it was just about even with WDAE at 1250. CBS/Infinity frittered those listeners away with constant lineup tinkering. The asylum/ayslum mixup on the website was representative of the whole disdain shown for the enterprise. Can anyone tell me their "slogan" now? 1010 Sports? 1010 cbssportsradio? The signal is a factor, but they could change that game tomorrow by going to FM. But would you put 1010 as it is now (or any of its incarnations since about 2002) on a 100 kW Class C?

Remember -- 1010 ion has not shown a ratings pulse since it went back to sports in 2006. They've shown up in what, one book?

At this point, it's not even worthy as an HD-2 side channel.

So, how can sales people sell the station and make money with a station that has no pulse? How do they pay the staff or do they work as a volunteer?
