I agree, I've been listening to Jody and I flip to Bruno and Rome when other stuff is on commercial...and I will stay till they goto commercial, but the night-time and weekend (espiclaly Pre and post Eagles) WHAT ARE THEY THINKING ???? First off if they really want to compete with WIP...they know they need to be Local...Pretty much 24/7.
Local morning show to compete with the train-wreck show on WIP.
Local midday show with a hard-core host who has a knowledge of national stuff and can bring on national guests to talk Philly.
Jody is fine...maybe give him a co-host or move him to midday when a more entergetic team is found.
Nights need to be live and local...espically when they dont have PxP on there. Needs to be a young up and coming host who has energy and contacts. Someone who can get good Philly based guests to talk hard-core Philly.
Overnights...would be nice...b/c IP's overnights show is terrible, and people would be forced to change to PEN and then that would lead people into your live and local AM Show.
Weekends....might be the most important thing in the early stages. Thats when the casual listener hears your product. Get a host who can direct traffic and a beat writer who knows their stuff, IP is doing it...so should you, if your going to call yourself the choice, well you better give a choice (and that doesnt mean the lame netowrk show, with hookie national hosts who all hate on Philly). Have a live around the league show when the Eagles game is on....Go live from a bar for an Eagles party (not everyone is at the game)...Do something, no more info-mercials. Even WIP is smart enough to put its FT host on weekends, they are the brand of that station and they do live shows on weekends too.
In closing, I hope they give me a choice. I love having Jody on in the PM Drive. I will listen to both, but now at least I have a choice, which is what PEN is saying they will offer...I am just waiting for it to happen.
PS. Please say the 700 Level show is a joke...I dont want to choose between a Sixer/Flyers game and some guy from the Northeast.
