Hey KGOW. Good for you.

Some of us are big fans of the little guy.

If they really need to save money they need to start at the top this time with the PD (Tim Collins) and the overpaid talent (4 figures Pallillo) vs starting at the bottom with the Board Op's (SOSED, I hope you make it thru the cuts next week)

you can't save money cutting the low paid board ops when these folk make more money than the rest of the real working staff.

Wonder if the rumored CC cuts next week will have an impact on The Sports Animal?

Yes, indeed. I liked Topper's comment about a small but passionate following, and it's worth noting that during December KGOW wasn't able to fire up the 50kW rig until 7:15 (same for this month, too). Sure it's only 15 minutes but being on the 100-watt nighttime signal means some of those John and Lance fans have to really want to tune in for the start of show. Often it seems like some of best stuff, IMHO, comes during the first few minutes.

I wonder if CBS won't shake some things up after the close on KHMX and Mega? I'm sure that Bob McNair and Les Alexander would LOVE to have their franchise's games broadcast on an FM stick, and CBS would be able to garner more money in the next round of contract talks for the two teams.

Good going KGOW! Just as I predicted!!!!!!!!!

Like I said...we still have a lot of work to do. I don't want to be the tallest midget. I want us to change the way radio is used in Houston. I was particularly encouraged by our 18-34 digits. That demo is fleeing radio like it was radioactive but somehow they have latched on to us, at least some of them.

Everything is still so tight this is far from over but I would rather be here than any of the other sports stations after seeing our first snapshot.

KGOW still needs a major coupe to shore up the future. That means picking up a program like Rome or one of the 3 major pro sports franchises in Houston, which is unlikely. I would predict the Rockets, Astros or Texans show up on an FM station sometime down the road. Something like Mix, as suggested by someone else, certainly seems credible. KGOW's best shot is at expanding quality programming like picking up a Rome or grabbing one of the premier talkers on the competition. Of course that means Lord or Pallilo. They must have life beyond morning drive.

For The Game, getting approval on the pending application for real nighttime power would be a huge step. The application was recently modified to address some demands from Mexico and the informal objection from the Radio Disney folks was dismissed, so hopefully the FCC will act soon.

Although it would be highly directional 15,000 watts would slam a really good signal over much of the area. Of course with such a complicated array (9 towers) it would take quite a while to get it on the air, but then KGOW would actually have a good chance at landing one of major franchises.

The writing is on the wall for the CPOD. Amazing work for a station that was predicted by all the "experts" on this site that predicted it's imminent demise by November 07, January 1st 08, June 08...

The Secret Society is bringing it.
