Spring '08 - Phase 2

Before Element 9 takes us to task for slacking...

Phase 2 of the Spring book is posted. Of course, these are only the "beauty pageant" 12+ numbers, but:

The Top 6 remain pretty stable, with 'YRK at #1, 'BEN at #2, 97-Rock at #3, 'BLK and 'JYE tied for 4th, and 'KSE at #6.

Significant winners include 'KSE, 'HTT, and The Edge. Both Kiss and The Edge had big bumps - or perhaps I should say recoveries - from the first trend. and are up from the Winter book.

'HTT had there best numbers in a year. I don't think that this book incorporates much of their recent music "adjustments", but I believe that their Flashback Weekends were part of the book. Maybe they drew a little more attention to themselves on the weekend, and it carried over during the rest of the week.

Star continued to trend down. They've lost 1.5 shares since last summer. It might be time for some concern.

WECK doesn't show up again. Perhaps they don't subscribe, huh?

I'm sure that those who have access to demos and breakouts will chime in to give us a better picture of what's really happening...
 
Looks like I'm the lacker this time out, on vacation and slackin' in scenic Schroon Lake, which the locals sometimes call "Screwin' Lake." Kids. Tsk, tsk.

Y' beat me to the punch Roxie ol' boy! I look at 12+ numbers as a spittin' contest (I'd use a stronger word, but the mods, God love 'em, actually censored a Yiddish word that I used in another post a few days back... BTW, I admire their literary worldliness), but there's a certain attractiveness to discussing 12+ ratings and speculating here.

Most of us know a station can have a low 12+ number but rank in the top five 25-54. For example, 97 Rock has a 6.7 share, but I'd bet their Persons 25-54 is top five and they're likely #1 Men 25-54. Likewise, I'd guess Star is in the money Women 25-54. WYRK? Feh! They probably own top 3 in every demo from 18 to 64... maybe even teens. WBEN? I know for a fact they do well 35+ and despite the occasional protests of Bob1370, have a hefty 55+ following. Regardless, that's pretty damn impressive.

There's a certain attraction here to 12+ numbers because they're the only numbers most of us get to see. We sometimes get a taste when and if the 25-54's filter down, but that's usually well after the fact.

This is a message board and it's our job and our right to speculate, dammit! So get on with it.

I think WECK is going to have to do some serious marketing and promotion to make people remember that 550 and 930 aren't the only two AM stations in Buffalo. (Yeah, I know there's more AM's--but the only two listened to en-masse are those two.)

I still think their weekend lineup needs a shakeup..................
