Spring 2006 Ratings - one AM story, the rest is FM

KFI is tied for first in 12+. LA has an AM at #1 once again - bringing the city of Angels in line with SFO, Chicago, and other cities with heritage AMs. Whereas in NYC, WINS, which bills itself as the most listened to radio station in the nation (based on cume rather than TSL), is actually #9 in their 12+ listings.

Unfortunately, the rest of LA's AMs are sliding or already down low - KABC down a notch, KNX down a notch, and KFWB up a notch above its low perch where it has been hovering for years. KSPN "710 ESPN" takes the local sportsradio crown - go Angels!, and Radio Disney makes the first appearance that I can recall in the 12+.

I wish Indie wasn't sliding - it's down a notch too - not that it has many notches left to give away.
The WAVE grew significantly.
Latino slid back further.
KLOS is showing some vitality.
KLSX took its first step forward after being hit hard by the loss of Howard Stern in the prior book.
The Beat continues to slip - too soon to determine if their recent format softening is taking hold.
K-Mozart wobbles to its lowest level in a year.

Re: Spring 2006 Ratings - one AM story, the rest is FM And Kola is down.

Hi,
And Kola 99.90 is down too.
Does no one listebn to the oldies in that area anymore?
And KKGO (and XESURF) 1260/540 is even with the winter book.

Well, I saw the book. At least KPWR's slide has somewhat slowed down, but it looks like they might have an opportunity to return to the top 10(by the Summer book) now that KIIS has peaked with its Rhythmic lean and KKBT chasing the 25-54 demos.

Keep in mind, KDAY should get a boost from their marketing and their signal improvement - which could steal a little thunder from Power 106. It also depends on what direction KXOL ultimately chooses. I would doubt if they at least don't make some changes.

As far as I can tell form the maps the KDAy "improvement" is minimal. They are already on the KNX tower, and are making some kind of small change. I doubt it will make any difference.
