Spring 2008 ARBS

Out today and no one's talking about them...B's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ahead of Q and Hot. Very obvious the top 3 are slugging it out with 18-34 and Q and B are battling for 25-54. CC should be making hand over first having 3 of the top 4 rated stations covering everything from 12-65 and Y's performance ain't bad either.

Time to pull plug on X...I've read the rumors and suggestions about taking it country...only ways you do it:

-Better music selection while positioning B as uncool, stale, and not playing the hits
-Giving away cash round the clock to start...pay them to sample...keep them with music and talent
-Hiring good talent to debut with launch
-Excellent marketing and promotions

If done right...they could take 4 or 5 points 12+ easily and bring Q into the #1 slot. It's possible, but having TK and K-Rock beat you when both have beatable holes in their products too...and you still can't win. Time to burn that mother down!

Well the ratings just came out late last night so I'm digesting them while I eat my Cheerios this AM! What act of god has made it possible to include ALL stations in the ratings including Galaxy's? Schweeeet!

Yeah, it's probably time to bury 95X but I'm not convinced country is the best option for that frequency. It sure would make things interesting though!

I was wondering in another thread who was winning the battle between 2nd and 3rd place AC's---and the booby prize goes to WLTI. WZUN has fallen off.

I think if I'm Citadel I make a double move with WAQX and WLTI. Give WBBS a competitor with one and re-tool the other one to go after 25-54 males. It's time to give Syracuse a fresh approach there (even if it is just 95X in different clothing) and I think WTKW could be vulnerable when they run SU sports this Fall and Winter.

One last thing, CC bought 105.1 from Craig Fox for $5 million in 2000. It's hovering just under a 1-share currently. Is it worth more or less now? I'm betting when all is said and done they end up accepting an offer in the $2 million range.

AllAccess.com said some of the Aloha stations "have" to be sold within 60 days. They didn't say which ones, but if WWDG is among them, I'd say even $2 Million is a bit on the high side.

It'll be tough for CC to find a buyer for just one station when most possible buyers would prefer an entire cluster. Moreso if CC tries to throw some non-compete rider on the deal, requiring the new owner to stick with the Nova format (or switch to another format that won't compete with CC, even though doing so would be the obvious preferred choice for any buyer).

Hopefully it doesn't wind up in the hands of yet another religious outfit. Nothing against religion, but it seems like there's already more than enough radiovangelism going on in these parts.
