I think Double C was making a point. Why are only stations owned by four companies listed in the latest Albuquerque ratings?

Among the missing...

KABG 98.5...Classic Hits/Oldies (usually a top 10 station)
KAGM 106.3...Rhythmic Top 40
KDLW 106.7...Top 40
KHFM 95.5...Classical
KQTM 101.7...ESPN Sports
KLVO 97.7...Christian Contemporary
KNKT 107.1...Religion
KRKE 1600...Oldies
KIVA 1550...Talk

How does Arbitron simply leave 9 stations off the list that have made the Albuquerque ratings in the past, including KABG which had usually been a top 10 station?

Even if these other stations don't pay for Arbitron, they don't disappear from the ratings. Stations that don't pay Arbitron don't get to use the ratings in their sales material. But they don't just vanish.

Part of the Arbitron rate is HOW high your ratings are....example if you have a 3.0 you pay less than a station with a 5.0 at least that is what it said on my quote from Arbitron...uuuummmmm.

If you pay yoy do not get a Butt whippin.....someone please show me a station that does not pay Arbitron and is #1 in their book............

You're right. They don't vanish. Those who pay for the book see their numbers; the general public doesn't. Arbitron will hold back the public release of non-subscribers' numbers if there's cause to believe one of those non-subscribers was trying to sell based on the numbers, which it's not authorized to use.

Arbitron used to embargo the entire market when this happened. They stopped doing that a few years ago. If I remember the story correctly, CBS, Clear Channel and Entercom were temporarily without contracts. Arbitron was going to embargo nearly every market in the country. A major publication (I can't remember which one) said it would either publish the numbers or sue Arbitron for damages because it paid for the right to release those numbers and made money off of that information. So, the parties struck a compromise. Arbitron agreed to stop embargoing entire markets, and the publications agreed to only publish subscribers' numbers in embargo situations.

Not just a station, but a company... Univision during the PPM transition in several markets. Same with SBS. And of course, Clear Channel during the long contract negotiation.

Radio 101 cont.
No book,no PD bonus.
Hire cheap crappy PDs or just let the automation system shuffle the tunes.
Most PDs today think that the key to success is imaging anyway.

Not This PD...oh and shhhhhhhhh we Cool 107.5 did very well in this book! Must have, as Agencies are now calling us! It is going to be a cool cool summer in Albuquerque

Congrats to Chas malibu on his new gig...he is sounding really good, but then again, he always has....a real boost to the Line-up, he'll lock-up the afternoon numbers for his station.
