Here's an interesting question. With the tremendous success CC is having with the Brew, do you think they will spread this format to other markets? Do you think it would work anywhere else besides Milwaukee? I know CC has a similar format in Detroit...WDTW..The Drive, but that station has not been nearly as successful as WQBW is.

and quite an improvement from previous years. Clear Channel had the courage to make some changes while the rest of the market stood still. Those moves really paid off.

Something else interesting. WRIT continues to climb 12+ as they modernize their music. Much to the disappointment of oldies fans on this board!

WJZI lost 25% of their audience compared to the winter numbers, one of the biggest hits of the quarter.

As for would The Brew work in other markets depends on the age of the audience as well as the type of area it's in. Lots of grown up 80s kids in Milwaukee. I'm surprised though that in Detroit, a blue collar midwestern town, that it doesn't do better.

As one of the oldies fans on this board, I've given up on commercial radio. I've moved on to satellite.

It seems to me that Milwaukee is still very much in love with the 80s, almost to the point that the 80s never really left. It was better times, I'm sure (I was very young, so I don't remember much), but I don't know that a format like The Brew would endear itself to audiences in other markets.
______________

If thats true, Someone should put an 80s station like WPOI Tampa on the air, except with a less repetative playlist. They could strike gold.
______________
