Spring Coast ARB predictions

How do you think the Spring ARB on the Coast will look if it's released?

Here's my prediction?

1) WMJY (Solid, lucky book but increasing threat from 102)
2) WZKX (Top Country)
3) WJZD (What can you say...only Urban)
4) WKNN (Yee Ha)
5) WGCM (Dropping Oldies and going after Magic as Classic Hits)
6) WCPR (Top Rock)
7) WXYK (Only Pop)
8) WXRG (Top Classic Rock)
9) WUJM (Gaining older Country fans)
10) WZNF (Close call but still 3rd Rocker)
11) WWL (News Leader)
12) WBUV (Local News)
13) WTNI (Local News)

We're only two weeks in to the book. A little early don't you think. I think JZD will be 1 or 2, b/c they are the only urban again. MJY 2, ZKX 3. XYK should be ahead of CPR. I don't see UJM ahead of ZNF.

I made a New Year's resolution to not make predictions and so I won't. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't. What makes this market hard to predict are the demographics that have returned and the ones that haven't. A thread on the Louisiana board talked about how the minority-targeted stations in New Orleans (WQUE, WYLD, etc.) may not be among the top stations there because of the ones who have returned to the city are more affluent; affluent people don't listen to nearly as much urban radio. If we had any hard facts on who returned to the coast and who didn't, maybe then we could get a more accurate prediction. But when the numbers come out late this summer, it'll be interesting to see.

Due to the Katrina aftermat you might see WWL and BUV higher up, WTNI is fortunate just to be on the list.

Other things to watch: The departure of Jaydolpf from Triad and his successor might serve as a catalyst for future changes, pending format changes and station direction, if anything does change.

Coast is starting in the right direction by going Classic Hits, but there going to have to 'walk the walk', upgrading station imagery, hiring more jocks, growing playlist to include 80s/90s and possibly early 2000s.

My 2 cents.

note to the NAB..satellite radio..its worth paying for!!</P>

Re: coast 102?

Do my eyes deceive me? A radio station within a 350-mile radius of Baton Rouge that smashed CD is actually INCAPABLE OF HEARING.

'Scuse me whilst I write Dear Abby.
