spring ratings

Magic, Froggy, and KRZ remain consistent. No strong signals otherwise, so there will never be a big game changer in the market. Is there anything another station can do to knock the market on its butt? I don't think so.

yea i agree with you nigel..wilk looks good only because there the only news/talk station in the market, and they have four stations(i believe,) that pumps out the programing. and even with that, im sure the high numbers in the breakdown come from rush. correct me if im wrong.
 
Magic is the only Cumulus station doing well in this market. The other Cumulus stations feature syndication. It just shows the power of local radio.

You're wrong from the get-go. What about the Talker 94.3?

If you look at the breakout (I know you won't see them but if you did) you'd see, as expected, the AM and PM drive shows both best Rush.

So you're corrected.

What I don't get, never did, is Magic. Did the diaries all go to people in dentist office waiting rooms?
 
Gotta ask how an entire market has managed to keep the claws of Clear Channel out of the neighborhood all these years. That company owns hundreds of radio stations in markets smaller than S/WB and Allentown.

I haven't checked the ratings for Buffalo and Seattle lately. But those places seemed to've been Clear Channel-free zones for a long while, too. (Maybe Kansas City, too?)

Back in the greedy days of the 80s and 90s, Cumulus and Entercom did not own all those stations in S/WB, correct?

How and why the door slammed in Clear Channel faces in S/WB?
 
armando, you cant compare the talker with wilk..thats like comparing magic with wnak..there not even close with signal, format, or talent with news/talk.thats why i didnt mention the talker, plus you show me where the am and the pm numbers beat rush and ill buy you lunch.
 
Just a reminder that as of last book, Arbitron was only listing stations which subscribe in what they release publicly. So, if the station doesn't buy, it doesn't get listed in what Arb releases to Radio Info, Radio On Line, et. al. Now, if you buy the book, you get a full listing -- subscribers and nonsubscribers. But, if you don't, you only get to see the subscribers. That's why there are no numbers for Gem 104 and the others.
 
Just throwing this out there... Does it seem like some owners have given up? They know they won't crack the top 5, so they keep doing their little things, hoping to make enough money to pay the bills. Things don't seem to be as competitive as they once did.

I think I remember Doug Lane saying, a very long time ago, that CC was interested in his little group.
 
Here's the 12 plus rank...which I believe is allowed to be displayed. One can see 12 plus numbers and fill in the blanks from the ratings page for WBarre scranton on this website.

WMGS, WKRZ, WGGY, WILK, WEZX, WBSX, WBHT, WDMT, WGMF, WSJR, WHLM-FM, WWRR, WSBG, WFUZ, WEJL, WTRW, WHLM-AM, WFYY, WARM...these are in rank order with WMGS number one 12 plus. No out of market stations listed, the usuals like cat Country, WZZO and the north jersey stations show up. No sign of WCDL, WAZL, WVPO, or WICK. Non-commercials are not listed in diary markets.

Any comment on the WEZX showing, their best in years since the end of the D and W era (Eric and Dave did well...Free Beer and hot Wings bombed). No comment about WBSX's lowest showing EVER at Penobscot....bring on the country!

Every show needs a little time to find itself, and it sounds like he new 107 morning team is beginning to figure it out. Fresh is good.
