John Ivey, Darren Davis, Scott Sands, Jeff Kapugi...and Karen Rite? Nice lady, but not one of the "best programmers" in the country. Programmers now have to be more than just product experts. They need to be concerned with costs & profit too.

3rd P12+ is not quite an accomplishment. U93 tied for second with Power P18-34. They didn't get number 1 in their prime demo. Tied for 3rd P18-49. 3rd W18-49.

U93 has 1/2 the ratings, loss of Notre Dame contract, 5th in Hungerford and cume less then 50,000. U93 is a shell of it's former self. Let's stick to facts rather than exaggeration.

I agree yellowtail that Jeff. John, Darren and Scott are all great LARGE and MAJOR market PD's. But when it comes to small markets, Karen is quite the PD.

Remember, the problems with the station being a shell of its former self is simply due to the yoohoos in Indianapolis. However, she is one of the best at what she does and she is doing a great job with what she is given.

Karen Rite is a good, but not great programmer. Kentucky Media has a serious crush on her for some reason. That being said, the SB Arbs do NOT bode well for AMP. In the 25-54 demo, they are woefully behind with ZOW in 5th and U93 in 7th! Also, keep in mind that they launched the 'stream', more like a drip with a .6, 12+ and a .6 w/25-54...wasted frequency....

radiovet

No crushes here, I have had the opportunity to work with Karen in other markets. Problem with 102.3 The Drip is that there are no tools to win. Not even a web-site.

no the problem with the DRIP 102.3 is that there is NO hole for the format---Sunny is too strong...there were two other things that they could have done with it...so if they had promo dollars galore, the .6 is as good as it gets...they need to sell the property--they have no idea what they are doing...

"We put too much on your plate", he said. She replied, "But we're so short staffed." And then another temporary opening was posted...

And it helps if you know nothing about AMP and radio for that matter...that way you won't talk over Art's head :D

Best Programmers for AMP why I think Casey Daniels was a pretty good one and deserves to be ahead of the table there. you are comparing Karen after Tommy Frank who wouldn't look like an all world programmer. Karen is solid but has limitations.

As far as ratings go AMP is a 12 share of the market why would anyone say they are up? Up from what? It is like celebrating tying your shoes, they are no longer a force they are a pop gun. Didn't they at one time hover in the mid to upper 20's share? Way to go you are half of what you used to be with stations in Chicago outperforming your local ESPN station (didn't show up) and WGN in Chicago besting three of your local stations. Wow they are terrific and should be poping the cork n Indy oh that right they closed the offices there.. HUMMMM

You are right on --- on so many levels!

The inherent problem is an owner that knows more about strategy for the cluster than the programming staff, the consultants, the general manager and the research company...

With their heritage they could rise again, as long as someone other than AMP owns it. If you need more reference, look at Lafayette--that cluster is a shell of what it once was.

Yikes, Lafayette is a complete mess! If they would have just let Rick keep running things, the market would have done much better. He by far is the best GM to work for AMP in years!
