Spring trends..

The spring numbers are out. Here are some of the highlights...

Radio One is 1 with KBXX and 2 with KMJQ.

KRBE continues its post Sam Malone slump.

KTRH benefits from another good Astros push for the playoffs.

KLOL (Mega) holds steady, KPTY slides.

KILT-FM still #1 for Country, but KKBQ is climbing.

KHMX holds steady. Even KHPT gained very slightly.

KIOL gains slightly, as does KFNC, but it's nothing to celebrate.

"Sports Animal" is hardly roaring. With the Texans season starting, look for KILT-AM to do better, which can't be good for KBME.

Wonder if Liberman would of made more money if they would of just kept KIOX 96.9 in the Country format? Its funny they wont try another format. KRBE seems to be droping for some reason, but still is high, KROI still hits the bottom of the tank, maybe time for a new format for them? I'm kind of surprised of seeing KBXX number one over KLTN.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Interesting trends...

I'm not suprised by anything really in the trends. KTRH surging because of the Astros--OK, that's a given. Mega 101 holding it's own and the Box and Magic reigning supreme, not surprise there at all. But there is one intersting aspect.

I'm not a fan of news/talk, but I gotta hand it to 97.5.
When did they launch...like back in June or something? And they're already showing up in a trend? Maybe people are just sampling the new kid on the block, not sure. I don't know the actual numbers but, still that they even showed up at all is quite respectable (I think) for an upstart station.

KIOX 96.9 had a good following and had to be a decent profit center. It certainly had to pull in a far greater cash flow than the KQQK-KIOX duo is with ratings under a one.

I don't think you will see a format change on KROI until next year at the earliest. While the numbers are dismal on the cow flop ratings for the public, the station did gain ever so slightly and Radio One is determined to make KROI a station with respectable ratings. Radio One has plenty of time to see what will happen with La Mera Mera. It doesn't hurt to have the #1 and #2 stations, The Box taking 1st place honors in the 12+.

KLTN is still on it's downward slide, is KTJM the station that is taking the audience from Estereo Latino along with the help of KROI? Liberman may just undo the purse strings and buy KRBE if possible to have a city signal to go head to head with KLTN.

KTRH must have all the right talk shows as it ties KRBE for 5th place. The best KTRH has been in the 12+ numbers for as long as I can remember.

Country KILT and KKBQ are only 0.1 apart, so virtually a tie for the Country battle. The morning show on KKBQ must pull in good numbers for 93Q.

Both Mega 101 and Party 104.9 unchanged, maybe they have hit their place in the overall scheme of things.

KIOL down and KFNC up. Considering the signal that KFNC is on, maybe the two stations should flip frequencies. Cumulus may have something with KFNC. The Rock 103.7 day crew sure works hard to have a street presence and the station is very active, but unless they change the music format, I just don't think KIOL will make it past a year. I wouldn't be surprised if Cumulus doesn't have two stations and towers for sale in the Houston area.

Unfortunately KRTX Tejano 980 didn't make the 12+ after showing the last three months.

Nothing else of unimportance from the list of no importance.

Re: Interesting trends...

Yes, it's that time again. That good old Monday through Sunday 12 Plus is out again.
