Spring Upstate TV Update

Across The Upstate: Despite the turmoil and near complete breakdown, Clear Channel and Providence were finally able to make a deal, with Newport acquiring all the former CC stations in Syracuse, Rochester, Binghamton, Albany, Watertown, and Elmira.

Plattsburgh: Newscasts returned to perennial loser WVNY via WFFF, who had also started their own newscasts late last year. The newscast airs outside of direct competition with WPTZ and WCAX, while some viewers are complaining that the newscasts are a, to quote Perot, giant sucking sound... In addition, we also learned recently the WKTV GM has gone up there to oversee the two stations.

Syracuse: Local TV legend Jean Daugherty died on April 6th at age 84. She was best remembered for her local children's show on WTVH in addition to her reporting. Speaking of WTVH, we also learned the ND at WBNG is also working as the ND there, showing how bad things off air with the brankrupt Granite have become...

Well, it's been relatively quiet, except now for the usual WROC bloodbath rumors...I'm sure bloodbath rumors from WTVH and WKBW will also pop up. Sad part is, they usually come true.

Any other contributions and corrections are greatly appreciated!!!
