Springer Donates To Museum Of Broadcast Communications

All Access:
TV host and CLEAR CHANNEL syndicated talk host JERRY SPRINGER has donated $200,000. to the MUSEUM OF BROADCAST COMMUNICATIONS in CHICAGO.

Part of the donation will support the museum's archival preservation efforts and educational programs.

Oh, great! Now future generations will be able to watch trailer trash bimbos fight.

If he can afford to drop $200k, he must be doing almost as well as Franken.

I have no doubt Springer does WAY better than Franken financially.

But I seriously doubt that his donation has any kind of strings attached like archiving his show (although the museum should do that regardless ... whatever you think of the TV show, it was a phenomenon that had record-breaking ratings for years).

And a correction note: Springer is not a "Clear Channel syndicated talk host." His radio show is his own property, it airs on maybe six CC stations at the most, but it's on about 60 Air America stations and is part of that network's official lineup.

It's more than six. Many, if not most, of those Air America stations are owned by Clear Channel.

I asked people who know. They say that 20-30 AAR affiliates are on CC stations. That's about about one-fourth to one-third. Arguably "many," but definitely not "most."

About 24 Clear Channel stations carry some Air America programming, but many do NOT carry Springer. Some carry Stephanie Miller (who's live at the same time as Springer) and those in the west follow their AM drive shows with Al Franken.
