did anybody catch springer broadcasting from London yeasterday. from 9-930 am he was reporting on the state of seige at one of the bombing suspects homes. at first he sounded like the journalist he used to be at channel 12 in cincy, then he whined about the war in iraq. comments?????????????

I didn't hear that particular half-hour, but I heard some of Springer's other radio shows from London, he seems to go there regularly. He wasn't there when the bombings happened, but when those events were unfolding he offered a lot of good perspectives that nobody else could.

Here's why, I've heard him tell this story more than once: Springer was, literally, born in a London subway tunnel. His parents were among the very last Jews to escape from Germany in the late 30's, and during the London blitz when subway tunnels became bomb shelters, 9th-month pregnant women stayed there 24/7 in makeshift hospitals. Springer came to America at age 5 but has always kept personal contacts with England, and durng the recent bombings he was able to describe each bombed subway station in detail, what neighborhoods were nearby, etc.

By the way, it was Cincinnati's channel 5, not 12, where he anchored the news in the 80's.

Please put up the quotations from the State of the Union speech, the comments last week, and the "Congressonal Commission".

Thanks. (Also if you have any audio of Karl Rove's acolytes squealing, that would be appreciated.)

And don't even think of throwing a chair at me.

> thanks for the heads up on Springer's backround. when i travelled insurance during the 80's, i listened to burbank on the BIG ONE and he regularly

called the tv anchors to do comedy bits of their upcoming stories. he would call pat barry on tv5, nick clooney on 9 and jerry and norma rashid at 12.
i have listened to many of jerry's radio programs over the last 6 months, and find that Jerry spends a lot of time speaking against the war on terror being fought in iraq. i have many friends who serve in the military and i salute their courage and service to our country.
Jerry has a tremendous backround in journalism news, i wish he would use it more than he does

I believe Jerry's got TV committments in London. IIRC he had been signed up to do a month of talk shows for ITV. Maybe his contract was extended, and more shows were taped for future airing?

But I did hear some of his shows from London - certainly he does harp on about the war... but I don't blame him for that. His London bits were quite good IIRC.

Mark.
