Saturday night my travels took me to Springfield, Illinois. 90 ,miles northeast of St. Louis, 180 miles southwest of Chicago. Noise free hotel room, so naturally, I fired up the C Crane Skywave and started DXing. Basically from 4-5am CDT. About an hour before sunrise. A few notes that may be of interest to some of you...
660: WFAN weak. Something unidentifiable underneath
670: R. Rebelde behind WSCR. Barely Audible, but definitely there.
740: CFZM Blasting
770: WABC very good
870: WWL good
970: WMAY local. Is now classic rock. So if you're now hearing 70s-80s on 90, it could be WMAY
1090: KAAY Blasting. Obviously still running 50 kw.
1180 Semi-local WLDS fighting it out with R. Rebelde "chorus" and getting the better of it. WHAM a distant third. 2-watts? Doubtful.
1240: local with audible GY slop underneath
1450: local WCVS strong and alone. No slop underneath
1520: KRHW (Sikeston. MO) vs KOKC. Trading places on top.
1630: KCJJ Strongest X band signal...by far.
