Springfield TV Pioneer Passed Away

Phil, in addition to being the host of "As Schools Match Wits" on Channel 22, was always a great educator and a really decent person. I truly enjoyed his classes at Westfield State College, back in the late 70's. Not many people know that he was also the radio station adviser at Westfield State who put WSKB-FM (89.5) on the air back in 1974. He was ALWAYS there to lend a hand and always willing to take the time to teach students about the intricacies about the FCC, radio and broadcasting in general. It was so nice of him to take time out of his very busy schedule to help a rather "green" engineer (aka-me) and to do a some voice-overs for me at the station. He was the best! I'm thankful for having the pleasure of being his student and for being a friend. RIP Phil.

Mike,

Truthfully I would have liked to have used WWLP.COM as my source for the article, but for some reason on my computer the websites for all 3 LIN stations (WWLP, WTNH, and WPRI) load very slowly and usually crash my computer. As a result if I looking for news from the Springfield area I use the sites for WGGB and WSHM.

That and Fox stations' sites give me the same fit of slowness, though they do load. I can't understand why, but that's not a good attribute for a website.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who has trouble. Oddly enough on my mom's laptop (an E-Machine my late father picked up for her at Walmart last year) has no trouble loading WTNH.COM, etc

I just went to the WWLP, WTNH, and WPRI websites as well as WFXT Fox 25's web site in Boston, and all loaded just fine on my Mac. However, I have tried some TV web sites on my other Windows based computer and they do seem to take a lot longer to load so perhaps it is a Windows issue.
