Boy, NY Daily News' Bob Raissman had a juicy column yesterday. Looks like WFAN was going to pair Big Mike Francesa with Sid Rosenberg. But Sid blew it! According to this article WFAN didn't like the idea of Sid going on the Scott Ferrall Show (on Sirius XM) and telling folks to check out the NYC papers in the coming days for news on el Sid.
And with the NY Mets/WFAN deal set to expire when the season ends, 1050 ESPN may enter the picture. 1050 has a bad signal, per this article, ESPN may want to purchase WRXP. As the world turns. If all this stuff is on target, good job to Mr. Raissman.
I still say WFAN should team Francesa with Joe Benigno. Mike likes the Yanks, Joe likes the Mets, Mike likes the Giants, Joe likes the Jets. I think they would be a great pair.
I've been saying this for over twenty years...WFAN should have a network of radio stations. I admire the way Entercom is "branding" their franchise WEEI (the sports leader in New England). WFAN should get affiliates in markets like Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and the list goes on.
Airchexx.com is featuring this week a classic aircheck from Long Island's WBLI. It's Don Nelson (aka Don Stephan of WYFA) hosting BLI's "Only Gold Show" from 1982. Also, WPLJ's Jim Kerr doing mornings (November 1987) when PLJ was a CHR. I love that Web site.
WOR's Michael Savage has a new book out titled "Psychological Nudity". It's his autobiography. You can visit michaelsavage.com for more details.
Did ya hear Friday's broadcast of Opie & Anthony on WXRK? It was a great one. A few weeks ago Anthony and CW-11's Jill Nicolini split. The real sad news here...Anthony & Jill are at the stage of giving things back. Part of the negotiations, Anthony has to pick up a $ 500 dry cleaning tab for Jill. One problem. Anthony keeps on avoiding to pick up the dry cleaning in Manhattan. Also, O&A told listeners to visit FoundryMusic and view the game Patrice O'Neal & Anthony played in the streets of NYC. Who could catch a cab first...Patrice or Anthony (dressed as a German soldier). (Adults only). Funny stuff.
Why does NY Post's Phil Mushnick hate night games? Get over it! I have no problem with Phil writing about the PSL crap that the NY Giants/Jets are pulling on their fans.
