SS32 Legal ID priority

Hello radio-info forums! I'm a complete noob, so please forgive me if I

I have been trouble shooting a college radio station that I work at for the past couple months or so (their normal tech guy left for another college) and recently we re-launched the station with a new "sound" or identity. When we did this we replaced all of our liners and legal ID's to fit this new sound. Unfortunately after the switch our Legal ID's lost priority.

Before the makeover our system would re-load the schedule at the top of the hour to ensure we played the legal ID's at the correct time, now our system is not doing it.

If anyone has any helpful information I would be extremely appreciative.

Thanks

-Hobo

If the "SS32" you're talking about is Scott Studios (now WideOrbit), I think I can help. I don't know what you are using to schedule your songs and IDs, but if you use Scott's MERGE program as part of the process, you must 'anchor' the Legal ID to the top of the hour position. This is done in MERGE by scheduling the ID at the top of the hour (00:00) and then placing a * character in the SYNC field. This will automatically make this ID the next-to-play event at the top of the hour, skipping over any other events before it. That should keep your Legal IDs close to the top of the hour.

Thank you guys SO much. This problem has been plaguing our station for months now, I'll be glad to have it resolved. We are indeed using the scott studio's and merge program that you speak of.

I'll be in the station in the morning to attempt a fix!

Okay, so today I went in and played around with the Merge32 program from ScottStudios. I was able to change the sync field to do what we needed it to do, but I was only able to do it manually.

Do you guys know of a way to give that soft anchor status to all of our legal ID's, so when Merge32 sees them it can automatically give them that status?

Okay, the problem is officially resolved.

For anyone who finds this topic at a later date, the parameters that needed to be changed were found in our music log program (natural music), Under "Clocks". I changed our non existent anchor into a soft anchor.

Glad you're all set. The other place this can be done is in MERGE in the "Edit Daily Template Logs" section. Here you can add a top of the hour marker or soft-sync.
