St. Joe's College WSJB: Why'd it go away?

From Fybush.com:
Over in Standish, St. Joseph's College has surrendered the license to its FM station - so cross WSJB (91.5 Standish) off your lists. (NERW wonders whether any astute noncommercial operators up that way caught the chance to apply for a new 91.5 in the application window that ends this afternoon...)

What gives? I have been in the running for jobs with many eager St. Joe's grads, so I'm fairly surprised their budding communication department gave up its license.

according to radio-locator.com that station is not even in their DB ( data base ) the singnal is not even on the air is it?

That's the point of returning the license to the FCC. To be more precise, I'm looking for information as to why the station shut down.

For the past few years I have been driving over to my Mom's in NH every month or so via Route 25 from Gorham to Ossipee, and have never heard the station on the air. Too bad the LPFM in Standish, WJZF 97.1 couldn't have grabbed up the frequency before the deadline. They are a neat little station, but on a horrible frequency. Even with their new antenna atop a cell-phone tower, about 100 feet up, they barely get out more than 5 miles or so.

WWLR 91.5 FM makes it to and past Gorham on Route 2 in NH. I as well get us at the Crawford notch. I as well have gotten WWLR on route 16 at the base of wildcat and the tuckermans ravine entrance on the road. this was in 2006 I realized this and was very ecstatic. has WSJB been gone longer than that?

No. rjoc is talking about Gorham, Maine, not Gorham, New Hampshire. Must you hijack every single thread with WWLR garbage? If you want to start a new thread about how big a blowtorch your college radio station is, by all means do so. This has absolutey nothing to do with the subject at hand.

wsjb 91.5

91.5 fm the college in Lewiston still has there station running and can be heard into portland and standish often...As for wsjb I heard from a board member of that college to what happened to the station why it was shut down and in fact who also has the studio equipnent and transmitter equipment now
Can not go into detail about it but it involved a student and what he had done to cause the station to be shut down...was very sad to hear about it

I know who has the WSJB equipment and transmitter, wonder if that person plans on putting a station on the air? Sad WSJB 91.5 is off the air use to listen to it often .
Also the call sign WSJB is now reassigned to another station, look it up in the FCC data base. Also hear 91.5 from Lewiston often since WSJB has been off the air.Not as good as WSJB was.
