ST LOUIS FM RADIO

Yes all the St. Louis stations play just fine there - less than 25 miles from where most of the stations transmit in Shrewsbury, MO with 100,000 Wats. Most of the St. L FM stations play well across Southern IL as far as Carbondale and nearly to Springfield.

Mike... When I was in high school at Reitz in Evansville, I would late night "DX" off a twenty foot 'hand' turned Radio Shack VHF arial just outside of my west bedroom window... I was down in the 'valley' near the Ohio River and just less than a mile from the (then 50kw/500 foot) WIKY tower.. I could pull in several stations from that direction.. When WRAY-FM would sign off at midnight (in those days), I could get 98/KSLQ and fell in love with Joel Denver's style of CHR programming... I could get KSHE-95 (94.7) when then WSAB-FM (94.9) Mt. Carmel would sign off at that bewitching hour! Nashville-Gallitan's KX-104 was another one I could pull out of the air on my Realistic Stereo tuner... My favorite happend when I heard a low modulating carrier, and cranked up the volume over some stereo hiss and determined to work there, and did.....The new "Rockinradio/WCIL-FM/101.5" in Carbondale! The most fun any young jock could ask for! 50kw in a college town with a very college market style and edgy top-40 with hot jingles and a 49 share in the 7 to midnight daypart.. We just pulled a 27 12+ Mon-Sun/6:am to 12:am... We had three FM's and two AM's from St. Louis bearing down on us, as well as the strong country legend WDDD and aor WTAO... "Those Were The Days My Friend".... ::)

I live near indianapolis Indiana and I can regularly almost every day pick up KSLZ Z-107.7.... Pulling on Y 98 isnt uncommun here either.... In the summer of 95 right before my freshman year in high school, one late night all the Saint Louis FMs where booming in.... I was getting 107.7..then Magic 108 and Y-98 like local, and I was getting THEN WKBQ Q-104.1 and 105.7 The Point,,,,, 102.5-Lite Rock,,, and KSHE was drowing out a local 50 KW powerhouse,, Also, heard 93.7, and Classic Rock on 96.3 that night.... It was definately DX,,,, im 230 miles from Saint Louis, the only one that shows up regularly now is KSLZ 107.7
