Stagnant?

It probably speaks to the nothing-happening nature of the market these days that we have a page full of threads about transmitter issues for stations in neighboring counties.

Well, let's see. I could tell you that WJAS (once known at "World's Jolliest Aerial Station) is one of 5 area stations that could have had 50,000 watts (65 horsepower), but management didn't want to make the investment.

that's a shame because i've become a bit of a fan lately. the music is solid and fun to listen to. if they were 50 thou it would be a bigger player. i think they need to adjust the jock lineup to reflect the improved, updated playlist. not likely since it's renda. and who would work at wjas for 22,000 a year? is he the cheapest owner in town? just asking, i really don't know.

No they wouldn't. 99.9% of their audience (everyone besides you) would still be over 65.

However their power bill would be much higher.

Neck and neck with Keymarket (owner of Frogs and Pickles).

Funny, because I heard about half an hour of WJAS last week and was struck by how slow and sludgy the music mix was. They should pick up the '60s stuff that 3WS dropped and actually play songs that were hits. There's a ton of stuff available.

Jock lineup changes only when Bogut or Cardille retires. They both bring in their own advertisers, which is why they're still there.

think it depends on the segment you hear. jas has been playing a lot of the sixty stuff you won't hear anybody play anymore. maybe they need to mix the tempo a little better. have also heard 70's stuff creeping in and out. just ditch the patty paige and henry mancini stuff. the bogat/cardille situation brings me to this question....how are sales people in the radio industry surviving? wow, the future looks bleak at best. answer me.
