As many of you in the business, stalking is our dark side. Stalking is scary for both radio people and their families. I have experienced stalking through this site and how it can be remedied. As of now, anyone, member or not, can type in our screen name we use here and see not only the exact city where we live, what we last viewed here, and what we are currently viewing. I used a former friend's city no where near where i currently live as mine as i want privacy for my wife and children. They are vulnerable. I have gotten private messages from one particular stalker who has told me my viewing history on this site..because this site allows it. I have done most everything i can to avoid this scary individual. But until this site removes the feature that anyone can see our viewing history encourages stalking because they know how to track us whether we like it or not. Sometime type in your screen name and see for yourself...you'll see exactly what youve been viewing on this site which i believe should be no ones business but our own..unless we want to share it. Please, your thoughts.

Well, first, you should do whatever you feel is best and safest for yourself and your family.

I'm not quite sure what on this site would make someone a target of a stalker ("It'd be a shame if your wife found out about your unhealthy interest in Audacy's bankruptcy filing."?), but I'm sorry if someone is harassing you.

Thank you, michael. Just think if this site actually went through and had a meet up and mingle and announced it here. It would be like our remotes..weve all seen who is standing watching us. We use to call them radio wackos. Do you really want others to know our viewing history of this site as it exposes now?

Well, I think there's a big difference between telling people:

"We'll be at the Dave & Busters on Hollywood Boulevard from 1 to 5 on Saturday. @Kelly A will be the guy saying Good Lord! a lot."

...and having people know we're looking at broadcast topics on a broadcast site.

I've been on this site for more than 20 years, been on the air all that time and am one of the few who posts using my real name and photo. I've never had an issue.

Again, you should do whatever you feel is best and safest for yourself and your family.

This is all optional for you. You are not required to enter a city name, or real name, or any other details.

Dear ptboardop93..i did not know about the privacy settings until now..thanks to you i have corrected some items on my profile here. While i can't be free of my radio wacko stalker, the changes may help down the road and prevent others..

I didn't know about them either---thanks, PT! The settings include "visitors", "members" and "nobody" for most of the things that @radio fan 41840 seems to be concerned about.

Likewise, thank you @PTBoardOp93 !

By the way, more than a few sites ask for your birthdate. I never give my actual birthdate to social sites, especially ones that don't allow you to hide that date (e.g. Facebook), because birthdates are frequently used by financial and other service providers as a secondary form of authentication.

Stalkers don't really care what topics we visit here, it's all about power..their power..to let the victim know that they've been watching us..to the exact post and time. Radio wackos like this are pathetic loners that use radii voices as their best friends forever, as socially they have few friends if any and our radio voices fill that need for them. They also seem to master all the online search services to find whoever they want. In my case, its only been on online problem for me. I'm sure many of you have experienced your own bouts. Play misty for me was fiction, but can easily become real to any of us who have opened a mic.

And, most important, many of us will read a user post and want to see more of "where they are coming from" and go and read that user's other accounts.

In fact, anyone can just do a search or go through the threads and see what else that person has posted. It is, like most message boards, public knowledge.

Nothing goes beyond the different groups on this board.

There is a simple solution: a user who does not want to read anything from a particular poster can block them.

You can also "ignore" a poster.

I have been on this site in its various incarnations going back over 2 decades and never had an issue. And I have my personal email listed as well as my city and state. Only once did some idiot subscribe me to a bunch of newsletters and "services" in the porn industry and I got hundreds of junk mails and patiently blocked or unsubscribed.

Knowing "Message Board Poster 3675" lives in Albuquerque will not allow anyone to find out their name, address, telephone, banking info, cable provider, FM presets, or if they are currently wearing underwear unless you willingly give out that info. Nothing required at registration goes beyond what is required on this end. Just because they can see what you read or commented on can do anything other than possible embarrassment.
