Stan Manson WOKR/WHAM

I was notified today of Stan Manson's passing on October 7. Stan was the engineering manager at WHAM-TV. He had been with the station for 40 years. It was amazing how poorly working equipment would suddenly start working when he walked into the room. The shop at WOKR was always a fun place with him in the room. He is a major reason why WOKR/WHAM is admired by broadcasting professionals everywhere.

I had the pleasure of working with Stan in the 70's at 13 for about 5 years total. He was a fixture at that station then. When Don Alhart put together the reunion that took place not too long ago I got a chance to see a lot of the folks that I worked with including Stan who didn't look all that different than he did in 1979 when I left 13. I got a chance to visit with him for a while again when I took a tour of 13 to see the changes in the 25 or so years since I was there last. The two things that hadn't changed: Stan & the engineering shop.
When I went to the wake the general consensus was he loved doing what he did and I think you can't ask for anything more. He'll be missed by everyone at 13 past and present.
