Stan Matlock and Ted McKay Air Checks

I know that WMKV airs recordings of short Stan Matlock stories during its broadcasting day. I always enjoyed listing to both back when they were on WKRC. Each had a great one-to-one sales ability when doing commercials.

I can easily recall Ted McKay's easy-going, soft-sell commercials during his evening show on WKRC in the 1960's. Foremost would be the one for "Sugar 'n Spice restaurants (one in Bond Hill and another in Fairfax) and for Globe Furniture. On the commercial for Sugar 'n Spice, Ted would mention the sandwichs on the menu there, even noting that he might be stopping in on his way home after the show.

This thread mentions just two of the personalities from that late-1950's to mid-1960's period. There was also: Jack Remington, Big Jon Arthur and then later on, Jerry Thomas and Bob Jones. Up into 1962, WKRC was also a CBS affiliate and carried its network programming (Arthur Godfrey, etc.) along with the line-up of local names. It might be remembered that Jerry Thomas began at 'KRC as the all-night man.
