any one rembere him he was a morning man in the 60s was pretty good too

....and before him there was Jungle Jay Nelson.

Jungle Jay got that name because he used to host the Tarzan movies on WKBW-TV Saturday afternoon. The kids in my neighborhood would yell Tarzan's on! It would clear the streets!

Well I don't rembere a Stan Roberts....but I do rembere a Stan Littenberg.

LOL

Anybody remember Stan Musial? He was a pretty good baseball player back in the '60s.

Anybody remember the Stanley Steamer? It was a pretty good automobile back in the early 1900s.

Anybody remember Stanley Tools? Oh, wait, they're still around.

Next our friend Carlson will wonder if anybody remembers Danny Neaverth, Rod Roddy, Tommy Shannon, Sandy Beach, Don Berns, Jack Armstrong, The Hound, Taylor & Moore, Larry Norton, and/or Jim Santella.

I rembere Stan. He was my rabbi at Temple Beth Foonman. Was pretty good too.

Wasn't Beth Foonman the morning news person at WTRY in '65? Her father owned the Famous Foonman Home in Fort Erie. He was a big jazz fan who put on Famous Frank Foonman's Free Festival... in Philadelphia.

After she married, didn't Beth Foonman became Beth Foonman-Temple? Or was that Beth Temple-Foonman? Anyway, she had a great voice. I think she moved on to TV. Worked at Channel Forty Four in Fort Worth.

Oy! Way too much Marx Brothers and Laugh-In in college.

OK...I get it. Someone poses a question on a radio message board, available to the public, asking about a radio legend that all of the radio geniuses have been extolling over a period of days, and how do the geniuses respond.....well, they mock him.

I don't know who Carlson is, but he was interested enough to join in on the conversation.
So, why are we mocking him?

Just tell him who the hell Stan is. Jeesh!

Let's clear that up for you. Carlson isn't interested in Stan Roberts - he's interested in watching people respond to his posts. Sorta like how an arsonist sticks around to watch the fire department put out the fire he started - but this message board stuff isn't nearly as destructive as what the arsonist does.

And how do I know this is what's happening? Simple. Search for all the posts done by carlson and you'll see that he's posted the similiar message on about fifteen different R-I boards - all asking if people "rembere" a certain air personality.

Well, I guess my gullability is showing.

"Never Mind"
-Emily Latella-

Well, you'd better be careful. Beth Foonman Temple has a thing for people whose gullibility is showing.
Come to think of it, so does Senator Larry Craig.

You guys are so sick.

I love you all.......but not the way Senator Craig would like to love you.........

BTW.......... Has the Senator ever used a lavatory at Buffalo International?

"Used" how? Don't believe the Senator has ever stumped in Buffalo. Besides, Buffalo-Niagara being a new facility, the stalls may be too wide for him. BTW, "showing one's gullibility" may be only a class three misdemeanor in NY state. Guess you'd have to check the... penal code. This thread has become "delightfully perverse," to quote Gore Vidal.

So there I was at the Buffalo airport, in the ladies room, doing a better split than Olga Korbut, stomping my foot like a Clydesdale and displaying the palm of my hand to anyone who sat down in the next stall......I couldn't even get arrested.

I don't know what that guy Craig is talking about; doesn't work at all.

I wonder how Stan Roberts feels about the way this thread has devolved, while still retaining his name in the subject line...

He Probably Can't STAN It Anymore

You'd think one of us geniuses would have modified the title as soon as the Larry Craig shtick began, but nooooo. We were too busy working the room for laffs and punch lines. Ain't we a bunch of radio dorkasauruses!

And poor Stan. He makes his debut on the board in a classy gesture in a previous thread, then some shlemiel initiates this thread and the cheesy posts just keep on comin'!

Hell, if Mel Brooks could do it with Blazing Saddles, why not us! You have to admit, some of the posts here have been downright funny and we all seem to have had a good time.

Maybe Stan would like that.

Stan?

I thought it was appropriate than "shlimazl" for the guy who mad ethe first post, no?

I'm trying to be be kind on this third day of Rosh Hashanah.

Figured I'd put in my "2 cents worth"(a whole weeks salary for me in broadcasting). Stan, you were always very kind to me at WGR, WBEN, and KB. I wish you had come on the air at least a couple of times during the K-Big comeback. We could hacve been treated to one of my favorite "Robetsisms", Kenmore Sloan! Hope u are well and don't worry, Willard Saperston and Peter Greco are awaiting your call!
