Stapleford exits

I just read on allaccess that Stapleford has left the building, they cited 'philosophical' differences (it never gets tired does it?)

What's the scoop?

You can't go home again. Or something like that.

Give the guy some credit. He rose from an intern to PD. That's a lot of major steps for a dead dog kid. He was brought back to compete in a different world where there's serious intent to win that little war, and he may not have been given the tools he needed to succeed. The other folks are given those tools. It ain't easy ya' know cher?

Please excuse me, but can you please tell me what radio station this person was at? I am not familiar with the name, and the thread is somewhat vague.
Thanks.

Trip Reeb is the former GM of KROQ/Los Angeles, who has also served as 91X PD in the late 80's. He recently returned as a consultant, and is keeping watch on the station until they identify the new Program Director.

It helps when you live in the market G-dawg.

When I replied, I misread your question. Kevin Stapleford was the Program Director of XTRA (91X) in San Diego.

Yes, its all good to remember the past, but 91X needs to look towards the future now. Let KBZT have the older audience and let 91X embrace the large young audience they have.

No, I'm pretty sure that even if I were living in San Diego, I still would not know who that is...

That says more about you Garrett than it does about Stapleford. 91X was second only to KROQ in its influence on Alternative Rock Radio in the U.S. As far as 91X, my feeling is that any product that was so dominant for years, will go into eventual decline. In addition Clear Channel damaged the very valuable image of this trendsetting station. Finest City has to deal with a more complicated and fragmented market, not to mention I-Pods, My Space, XM & Sirius.

Ok everyone.
There was no need for that jab. I DID work in San Diego, even though it WAS a while ago. For as much as I have followed radio in the 12 years I lived ther (as well as now), I simply HAD NEVER HEARD OF HIM, and kindly asked.

That doesn't say A THING about me, not A SINGLE THING. In this business, you could work a station for years, and never meet or see some of the people in the building. I worked down the hall from 91X, but never met Mr. Stapleford.

It is very discouraging when I ask a question and instead get personal jabs made at me. All I did was ask who he was. I have never heard of him. Sorry, I had not.

Doublecash, you seem to always be quick to jump on me a lot in here. I don't know who YOU are, nor do I care. But if you have some animosity towards me, (for whatever reason), I am sorry for whatever it is, but please leave it off the boards.
